On Wednesday, June 18, F-REI Top Seminar was held at the National Institute of Technology, Fukushima College. The seminar was attended by approximately 120 third-year students from the Department of Mechanical System Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronic System Engineering, and Department of Applied Chemistry and Biochemistry. The lecture, titled "Remote-operated Robot Capable of Working in Harsh Environments," was given by Unit Leader OHNISHI Kouhei from F-REI's Robotics Research Area. In the lecture, Unit Leader Ohnishi covered the current status and challenges in the research and development of remote-controlled robots for operation in harsh environments. He explained that F-REI aims to build robots that are sturdy enough to withstand extreme environmental conditions, yet capable of gentle and dexterous movements.
