Fukushima Institute for Research, Education and Innovation (F-REI) held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) on October 3, 2024.
At the ceremony, PNNL’s Laboratory Director Dr. Ashby delivered a presentation on the organization’s business overview.
During their stay in Japan (September 30 - October 3), F-REI invited PNNL members to Fukushima, Hamadori Area and they took part in site visits to Interim Storage Facility, Tokyo Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, Fukushima Robot Test Field and Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Field (FH2R).
MOC
F-REI and PNNL have complementary objectives in terms of research & development, human resource development, and commercialization. Through signing the MOC, the two institutions will establish a collaborative relationship for joint research and other activities in the fields of robotics and automation; sustainable agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; clean energy technology; radiation science and its industrial applications; pharmaceutical development using radioactive isotopes; and information sharing approaches of nuclear disaster response.
