In April 2023, the Fukushima Institute for Research, Education and Innovation (commonly known as “F-REI”) was established to provide dreams and hopes for realizing the reconstruction of Fukushima and other prefectures in the Tohoku region. In addition, F-REI aims to become a world-renowned “central institute for creative reconstruction” which drives forward with enhancing the scientific capabilities, technological capabilities and industrial competitiveness of Japan and contributes to economic growth and improvement to the daily lives of people living in Japan.
F-REI needs to carefully grasp not only the needs of existing research centers and educational institutions related to the five fields in which F-REI is engaged, but also the expectations and specific needs for F-REI of the region through various kinds of dialogue. In addition, based on such necessity, it is said that it is important for F-REI to have various forms of partnerships with local municipal governments, residents, companies, organizations, etc. where F-REI plays a core role.
Therefore, we will hold a symposium to commemorate the establishment of F-REI as an opportunity to communicate the role, functions and plans for the future activities of F-REI to people in Japan and abroad, including Fukushima Prefecture, as well as to have dialogue.
